Everything Search Overview
Everything (by voidtools) is a free, extremely fast file-search utility for Windows that lets you find files and folders by name almost instantly as you type. It works by reading the file system's index (the NTFS Master File Table) and maintaining its own lightweight database, so initial indexing is quick and searches return results immediately, even across drives with millions of files — a dramatic contrast to the built-in Windows search. It supports filters, regular expressions, and bookmarks, and can run as a portable app or service. It is a favorite of power users who need to locate files fast. Saved as a full installer, Everything Search can be set up on a system with no network access. An HTTP and ETP server mode can even make the index searchable from other devices on the same network.
