MPC-HC Overview
MPC-HC (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema) is a free, open-source media player for Windows, maintained by the MPC-HC Team as a community continuation of the classic Media Player Classic. It is built to be extremely light on system resources while still playing virtually any common audio and video format straight out of the box, thanks to bundled internal codecs and LAV Filters. The interface deliberately echoes the simple, compact look of older Windows media players, with no background services, telemetry, or clutter, which makes it a long-standing favorite for older PCs and for anyone who just wants a fast, no-nonsense player. It supports DVD playback, subtitles with style customization, pixel shaders for video post-processing, fully customizable keyboard and mouse shortcuts, and an optional web interface for remote control from another device.
