Panda Security Overview
Panda (now part of WatchGuard) is a security vendor whose consumer products for Windows protect against malware using a cloud-based model. A distinctive element historically has been its reliance on cloud intelligence and a 'collective intelligence' approach that analyzes threats centrally to keep the local client light. Consumer plans range from free antivirus to suites adding a firewall, a VPN, web protection, and PC-optimization tools. The interface is designed to be approachable for everyday users. It uses a freemium model. Panda also includes a rescue kit for cleaning compromised machines, a USB-drive vaccination feature to block autorun malware, and a process monitor, while its cloud model keeps definitions current without large local downloads.
