Prime95 is a free program for Windows and Linux best known in two roles: it is the client for the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS), a distributed-computing project that hunts for very large prime numbers, and it is one of the most widely used CPU stress-testing tools. Its 'Torture Test' pushes a processor to maximum load and heat, which makes it a standard way to test system stability after overclocking and to check that cooling is adequate.
