Mozilla Firefox ESR Overview
Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) is the version of Mozilla Firefox intended for organizations that need a stable, predictable browser. Instead of receiving new features every few weeks like the standard release, ESR keeps the same feature set for an extended cycle and receives only security and stability backports, so administrators can certify one build against their internal applications and deploy it widely without frequent change. It uses the same Gecko engine and supports the same extensions as regular Firefox. A new ESR branch is based on a recent Firefox release roughly once a year, with an overlapping support window so administrators have time to qualify the next version before the previous one stops receiving security fixes. The full offline installer is well suited to managed, scripted deployment across many machines through tools like Group Policy.
