Pale Moon Overview
Pale Moon is an open-source web browser for Windows and Linux that follows a different path from modern Firefox. It is built on Goanna, a rendering engine forked from an older version of Gecko, and deliberately retains the classic Firefox-style interface and the original XUL/XPCOM add-on system, so it can run many legacy extensions that current Firefox no longer supports. It is maintained as an independent browser focused on customization and efficiency rather than tracking the latest web-engine changes. Because Goanna diverged from Gecko years ago, Pale Moon does not use Firefox's newer Rust components or the WebExtensions-only model, which is the deliberate trade-off it makes to keep legacy add-on support and a lighter footprint on older hardware. The full offline installer contains the complete browser and installs without a connection. This page links to Palemoon's official Pale Moon download.
