Microsoft Access Overview
Microsoft Access is a desktop database management application from Microsoft, part of the Microsoft 365 and Office family, for Windows. It lets individuals and small businesses build their own databases and the applications around them without needing a full database-server setup or deep programming knowledge. Access combines a database engine with tools for designing tables to store data, queries to find and combine information, forms for entering and viewing records through a friendly interface, and reports for presenting and printing results. It includes templates for common needs such as contacts, inventory, and project tracking, so you can start quickly, and it can connect to external data sources, including SQL Server and other databases, when a project outgrows a single file. For users comfortable going further, it supports macros and the Visual Basic for Applications language to automate tasks and build more capable applications. Access is widely used for departmental tools, record-keeping, and lightweight business applications. It is available through Microsoft 365 subscriptions and certain Office editions.
