LibreWolf Overview

LibreWolf is an independent, privacy-focused fork of Mozilla Firefox for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is built from Firefox source with telemetry and data-collection removed and privacy- and security-hardened defaults applied: it ships with uBlock Origin, enables strong anti-tracking and anti-fingerprinting settings, clears cookies and history on close by default, and removes sponsored content. Because it is Gecko-based it supports Firefox extensions. It enables Mozilla's Resist Fingerprinting (RFP) protection and disables features that phone home, so by design it does not include Pocket, sponsored shortcuts, or built-in account sync. LibreWolf trades some convenience for a stricter privacy posture, which makes it popular with users who want a hardened Firefox without configuring everything by hand. The full offline installer contains the complete browser and installs without a connection. This page links straight to Librewolf's official LibreWolf source.

LibreWolf Offline Installer FAQ

How is LibreWolf different from regular Firefox?
LibreWolf is built from Firefox source but removes telemetry and applies stricter privacy and security defaults: it includes uBlock Origin, strong anti-fingerprinting, and clears history on close. The trade-off is fewer conveniences, such as no built-in Firefox account sync.
Will my Firefox extensions work in LibreWolf?
Yes. LibreWolf uses Firefox's Gecko engine and supports Firefox add-ons, so most extensions install and work the same way. Some features that rely on Mozilla services may behave differently because those services are disabled by default.
