Krita Overview
Krita is a free, open-source digital painting application for Windows, macOS, and Linux, released under the GPL and developed with input from working artists. It is built for illustration, concept art, comics, and texture painting, with a powerful brush engine that supports many brush types, customizable stabilizers for smooth lines, wrap-around mode for seamless textures, and full support for pressure-sensitive graphics tablets. It also includes layers and masks, vector tools, and a frame-by-frame 2D animation workspace. Krita reads and writes formats including its native KRA, PSD, PNG, and TIFF. The offline installer bundles everything Krita needs, so installation completes without a connection. It also supports HDR painting, a built-in vector and text engine, and Python scripting for custom tools and automation. This page points to the genuine Krita source from KDE, not a third-party host.
