Download summary

Kdenlive is a video app for Windows/macOS/Linux, published by KDE. A direct package URL is recorded below. The host may be the publisher, a release repository, a CDN, or another distribution source documented by the publisher. Some packages still fetch optional components during setup. Recorded package files cover Windows; for macOS and Linux, use the publisher's download page linked below. The recorded publisher site is kdenlive.org. We do not host or modify installer files.

Sources and identity

External references used to identify the product and publisher. These links do not prove that we installed the package.

Publisher documentation

These references support the package and behavior notes. Documentation checks are separate from the recorded URL-check date and do not represent an installation test.

Windows installer for system integration

KDE’s installation manual distinguishes the installer, which integrates with Windows and requires administrator rights for an all-user installation, from the standalone distribution.

The recorded installer is the older 26.04.3 build. Check the current release page and project compatibility before choosing an archived version.

Extract the standalone distribution

Run the trusted self-extracting EXE to unpack an application folder, then launch bin/kdenlive.exe. The manual describes ordinary-user operation after extraction.

Standalone does not mean all data remains in that folder: settings and downloaded dependencies can remain on the computer. Keep projects, source media and generated proxy/cache data separately accounted for.

Package guidance is based on the linked documentation, checked 11 September 2026. No installation test is claimed.

Verification scope

A direct package URL is recorded above. We have not independently installed every listed build or confirmed that setup remains fully offline.

We do not host software files. Links may resolve to a publisher domain, its release repository, app store, CDN, or a documented distribution host — confirm the final hostname, publisher signature, version, and architecture before deployment. Recorded URLs last checked 11 September 2026; content last updated 11 September 2026.

What Kdenlive does

Kdenlive 26.04.3 is an older recorded KDE release. Its two Windows files remain in KDE's archive; the current download page checked on 11 September 2026 lists 26.08.0. Use that page for a new deployment unless an existing project needs the archived version. Keep a copy of the project before opening it in a different release.

Kdenlive uses MLT and FFmpeg components for multi-track editing and media handling. Track count is not an unlimited practical resource: RAM, storage bandwidth, decoder load, effects, compositing, proxies, cache, and project complexity impose limits. Format support varies by installed build and codec/profile, and interchange can lose metadata or unsupported media features.

Proxy files and preview scaling can reduce editing load, but do not guarantee responsiveness and must reconnect correctly to full-resolution media for final rendering. Generated proxies and caches require additional storage and can contain sensitive copies. Effects, scopes, scene detection, title/subtitle tools, and hardware paths need project-specific validation.

The publisher separates release downloads from daily test builds, which can be unstable and can damage existing projects. The current 26.08.0 page offers Windows, Linux AppImage/Flatpak and separate Apple-silicon/Intel macOS downloads. Those current packages are not the same artifacts as the two archived 26.04.3 Windows files in this table. No installation, signature, proxy-relink, rendering or project round-trip test was performed here.

Product features

  • Multi-track timeline constrained in practice by system and project resources
  • Many effects, transitions, and title tools
  • Keyframing and audio/video scopes
  • Proxy editing can reduce load but adds storage, relink, and privacy considerations
  • Free and open source; cross-platform

Installation notes

Grouped by the package types recorded on this page — not a claim that every listed build was independently tested on every supported platform.

Windows Windows installer (EXE)

  1. 1

Download the recorded file (kdenlive-26.04.3.exe). If it has a digital signature, inspect the signer and validation result in Properties → Digital Signatures. If no signature is present, follow the publisher's documented verification method; a missing signature does not authenticate the file.

  2. 2

Check any Windows warning before proceeding. A SmartScreen reputation warning is not signature verification; stop if the publisher is unexpected or the file is reported as malicious.

  3. 3

Follow the publisher's setup prompts to finish; options vary by release, so review each screen rather than clicking through.

Windows Windows self-extracting archive

  1. 1

Verify the recorded file (kdenlive-26.04.3_standalone.exe) before using its publisher-documented extraction procedure. A self-extracting archive runs executable code; it is not the same setup workflow as the conventional installer.

  2. 2

Choose an appropriate writable destination. Extracted tools can still write configuration, credentials and other data outside that folder.

No direct package URL is recorded on this page for macOS and Linux — for those platforms, choose the build on the publisher's download page linked in the table above.
