GParted Overview
GParted (the GNOME Partition Editor) is a free, open-source partition-management tool, most commonly used as a bootable live image you run from a USB drive or CD to manage disk partitions outside of a running operating system. It can create, resize, move, copy, delete, and format partitions, and check and repair file systems, across many file-system types — which makes it especially useful for resizing partitions safely, preparing drives for new operating systems, or rescuing a system. Running it from live media means it can modify partitions that would be locked while an OS is running. The full offline image runs without an internet connection. It also supports setting partition flags such as boot and LBA and aligning partitions for SSDs, and the live image includes basic tools for rescuing a system.
