GDevelop Overview
GDevelop is a free, open-source, no-code/low-code game engine for building 2D (and some 3D) games, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux as well as in the browser. Instead of writing code, you define game logic with an event system — conditions and actions in plain language — which makes it approachable for beginners and educators while still allowing JavaScript for advanced needs. It includes a scene editor, a sprite and animation editor, physics and particle effects, and one-click export to Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and the web. It is widely used for learning game development and rapid prototyping. The offline installer installs without a network connection. A built-in asset store, ready-made examples, and an online editor that saves projects to the cloud help newcomers start quickly.
