Unreal Engine Overview
Unreal Engine is a high-end game engine and real-time 3D creation tool from Epic Games, with an editor for Windows and macOS. It is renowned for cutting-edge graphics and is used to make AAA games as well as for film and television virtual production, architecture, automotive design, and other real-time visualization. Creators build worlds in a powerful editor and program behavior either with C++ or with Blueprints, a visual scripting system that lets designers create gameplay logic without writing code. Unreal includes advanced rendering features such as dynamic global illumination and highly detailed geometry systems, along with integrated tools for animation, physics, audio, particle effects, and large open worlds. Finished projects can be shipped to desktop, console, mobile, and XR platforms. Unreal Engine is free to download and use, with Epic taking a royalty only after a game passes a revenue threshold, and it includes access to a large marketplace of assets.
