System Informer Overview
System Informer is a free, open-source advanced system-monitoring and process-management tool for Windows, the current continuation of the project formerly known as Process Hacker. It provides a far more detailed view of the system than Task Manager: color-coded process trees with deep information on threads, handles, loaded modules, memory, services, and network activity, plus the ability to inspect and terminate processes that the built-in tools cannot. It is widely used for performance troubleshooting, debugging, and malware analysis by power users and security researchers. Its full installer holds the complete application, so it sets up on a machine with no internet connection. It can identify which process holds a locked file and view kernel-level details, which is useful for both debugging and incident response.
