DaVinci Resolve Overview
DaVinci Resolve is a professional video editing, color grading, visual effects, and audio post-production application from Blackmagic Design, for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is unusual in combining several full crafts in one program, with dedicated workspaces for editing, color, effects, and audio that let an entire post-production workflow happen without moving between separate tools. Resolve is especially renowned for its color grading, long an industry standard for finishing films and television, offering precise color tools, tracking, and a node-based grading system. Its editing pages provide both a traditional timeline and a faster cut page for quick turnarounds, the Fusion page adds node-based visual effects and motion graphics, and the Fairlight page is a complete audio post environment for mixing and sound design. It handles high-resolution footage and works smoothly with collaborative workflows so editors, colorists, and sound engineers can share a project. DaVinci Resolve comes in a genuinely capable free version and a paid Studio version that adds extra effects, higher-resolution and frame-rate support, and additional performance and collaboration features.
