Cryptomator Overview
Cryptomator is a free, open-source tool for client-side encryption of files you keep in cloud storage, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It creates an encrypted vault that appears as a normal virtual drive on your computer; files you place there are encrypted on your device before they ever reach services like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive, so the cloud provider only ever sees encrypted data. Each file is individually encrypted, and even file names are obscured. Because it works transparently as a virtual drive, you use your files normally while they stay protected. Its full installer holds the complete application, so it sets up on a machine with no internet connection. An optional mobile app lets you open the same vaults on a phone, and because the vault format is open, your data is never locked to a single vendor.
