Synfig Studio Overview
Synfig Studio is a free, open-source 2D animation application for Windows, macOS, and Linux focused on vector and tween-based animation rather than drawing every frame by hand. Using keyframes and its automatic in-betweening, you set start and end states and Synfig generates the frames between them, which can produce smooth motion with less manual work. It supports a bone/skeleton system for character rigging, layers and filters, and linking parameters for complex, reusable animation.
