MuseScore Overview
MuseScore is a free, open-source music notation (scorewriting) application for Windows, macOS, and Linux used to create, play back, and print sheet music. You enter notes with the mouse, keyboard, or a MIDI instrument onto a professional-looking score, and MuseScore handles engraving, playback through built-in sounds, transposition, and parts extraction. It supports a wide range of notation — multiple instruments, lyrics, chord symbols, tablature, and more — and imports and exports formats including MusicXML, MIDI, and PDF. Its capability at no cost makes it a leading choice for composers, arrangers, students, and music educators. The full MuseScore installer is self-contained and finishes installation even on an offline machine. A large online community shares scores you can open and study, and plugins extend the editor with extra tools. This page links straight to MuseScore BVBA's official MuseScore source.
