Joplin Overview
Joplin is a free, open-source note-taking and to-do application for Windows, macOS, and Linux (with mobile apps) that stores notes in Markdown and emphasizes privacy and data ownership. It organizes notes into notebooks, supports tags, attachments, and to-do items, and offers a web clipper to save pages from your browser. A key feature is flexible, end-to-end-encrypted synchronization: you can sync across devices using your own choice of backend, such as a cloud-storage service or a self-hosted server, rather than being locked to one company. It is popular with users who want a capable, private alternative to commercial note apps. Its full installer holds the complete application, so it sets up on a machine with no internet connection. Notes support Markdown with math, diagrams, and code highlighting, and an optional plugin system extends the desktop app further. Download Joplin from Laurent Cozic's official source, linked here.
